Looking for Truth

 I Miss My Dad

My Dad was a "John Wayne" of a man.   He taught me to shoot a gun and hit what I was aiming at before I was six.  He was a hard worker, always putting in long hours for fair pay.  He owned his own business and never asked anyone to do more than he was doing.  He was a good man.  Not perfect because trying to be perfect always got in his way.

There was nothing my Dad couldn't do better than anyone else.  He had many faults - but admitted to few.    I never cared because above everything else in the world he loved me.  I was his pride and joy and his "tomboy" - the son he always wanted.  We would hunt together, ride horses and even work together.  I was his office secretary as I got older and could sign his name for payroll checks better than he did.  He used to laugh that if his signature was ever needed they would have to call me to sign it, because his would be mistaken for a forgery.

My Dad passed away over 4 years ago.  A young man by most standards, only 75.  We talked to each other until he slipped into a coma, the day before he died.  We talk about being saved and knowing the real Jesus and the real God of the Bible.

You see my Dad was Mormon.  He was a Temple Mormon, and held the priesthood in the LDS Church.  He had his temple garments and his secret name and burial clothes including his little “green leaf” which he was buried wearing.  He believed in a different God and Jesus than I did.  A ritualistic god, not the God of the Bible that I believed in.  But a god of Flesh and Bone who was an exalted man. A god that was not the only god, but one of many.  A god like he hoped to be one day.  A god that Mormons pray to and a Jesus that are completely foreign to the bible.

We talked about our different beliefs.  How according to the Bible, that his Mormonism was not Christianity.  That his god and his Jesus and his holy spirit - were only gods of many to the Mormon faith.  We talked of the differences and what risks were involved if either of us were wrong.

If I am wrong in my Christian beliefs and my Dad was right, I will still end up in a heaven - one of three the Mormons believe in.  It would be their lower heaven, but still heaven.  Mormons aren't as tuff as God.

If my Dad was wrong in his LDS beliefs and I am right, according to the God of the Bible - he will end up in Hell at the final Judgment.  God says you're either for or against him.  There are no shades of gray with God.

My Dad's last words were that he loved me and knew I believed he was marching into hell banging a big drum, but he was not going to abandon his dead Mother and family. He said he wanted all that was coming to him, according to his faith. I said I would pray that would not happen, and that I love him. Then I prayed.

The hardest thing to have to face is the idea that someone you love and someone's soul could be or will be in eternal damnation.   I grieved and prayed for God's mercy on my Dad's soul the day he died.  I have continued to pray for all the lost souls in Mormonism.  I believe that the Bible tells us we all have a freedom of choice.  Choose the Christian God of the Bible or know the eternal outcome.  We will spend eternity somewhere.

Sadness – it’s not just losing a parent or any loved one.  True sadness, is being aware that their eternal soul maybe lost forever.  God is not cruel, God is fair and loving and will judge us by the Free Choices we make.

I miss my Dad - I will always miss my Dad

 Random Acts of Kindness

Are you guilty?

That guy standing on the corner with the sign "will work for food" or the little dog you saw wandering like he was lost - did you do anything for either?

Why are you helping others? Or - Are you helping others? Tell me about a good deed you have done and how it made you feel?

I will start with one. The other day I made a large pot of homemade vegtable soup ( a 3 gallon pot). I put everything into it - beef, cabbage, corn, potatoes, you name it - it's in there. Then just for the joy of giving I did - I gave it out to my neighbors.

I have a bunch of old neighbors - 70+ and one guy who is 90. Anyway - I called them and took dinner to all. Enough for at least 2 meals each. Mr & Mrs. Paul (and 40 yrs old son who is staying with them) - Mrs. Helen (who is a widow) - Mr. & Mrs. John (who are in their 85th years) and then some to my 90 years old father-in -law. So Why did I do this and cook all day? Just to let them know I was thinking about them and loving them.

The joy on their faces when I appeared at their door,on a cold day with hot veggies soup - was to me - Priceless I love blessing others, as God has blessed me.

Mormonism is Not Christianity according to the Bible

This is a list of some things that are taught in the LDS Church that are not found in the Bible.  Mormonism or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, have every right to be LDS/Mormon by their choice.

I want you to know that if you chose to be a Mormon, that you are choosing a religion that is not Christian.  I once was a Mormon – Here are some of their teachings. Beside not believing in the Trinity - they believe that there are three (3) separate gods in their godhead not one God as the Bible states in three persons.

If this is what your after – here are some other things you will be taught.

1.     God is an exalted man of Flesh and Bone and worked his way up to godhood.

2.     He and his wives populated earth with their offspring.

3.     His offspring worship him because they are his spirit children.

4.     Man, and only man, can also become a god and attain the same as the gods did before him.

5.     There are as many gods in the heaven as stars in the sky.

6.     Women, who become the wives of gods – are most often pregnant forever, populating their husbands' planet.

7.     Temples are for doing “works” such as Baptizing for the Dead – Sealing for eternity husbands and wives together in marriage and sealing families together to have their homes in heaven.  Continually speaking with dead spirits, whom they believe are past friend and relatives, who want this ‘work’ done for them by proxy (stand-ins) at the temple.  Secret garments they wear are given to each that protects them from their adversaries.

8.     Joseph Smith, (not Jesus) will call the men of the church out of their graves by the secret names they are given in the Temple.

9.     The Men of the church will then (if they want to) call each wife from the grave by their Temple given secret name, they may have more than one – (they marry by proxy also – plural wives are now attained by marrying spiritually in the future for the afterlife) - Living wives fight over who is going to be First wife called – she is the head wife and given more prestige.

10.  Joseph Smith will judge his Mormons first – even before Jesus judges at the end times.

As you can see – I could go on and on but just these facts should make you think a little.   In fact – I hope you think a lot.  Your eternal soul depends on it.  You can be a Mormon – But know it is not Christianity or Biblical.

Can I be Baptised After I Die?

Talking to the the spirits of the dead - is it ok?  There are some that not only talk to them but have religious rituals that encourage this practice, for instance, baptism for the dead.   Did you know that in the Mormon/LDS Church  this two way conversation is commonplace.  So here are some things to ponder.

1.  Some spirit has to contact a LDS/Mormon to tell them they wish to be baptized into the Mormon Church.

2.  Some  Mormon has to comply with the spirits wishes.

3.  That person then goes to the Mormon Temple and stands in the baptisimal fount and becomes that person by proxy and is baptized into the Mormon church.

4.  This LDS belief is that this "work of baptism" will help save them in their afterlife.  According to their belief, you can not be saved if you are not Mormon and baptized.

5.  This is a continual process of "dip & re-dip" of this temple worker to keep baptizing deceased friends and relatives, by proxy, to increase the church membership and guarantee the spirits eternal heavenly reward.

By Christian standards and beliefs no work anyone else does, except the work of Jesus Christ can save me and I can only be saved before I die.  If I could be saved after I died - Why not keep the Party going and going and going.  Let my old friend Joe Blow get dipped for me later on his time.   I  can contact him from some spirit holding place,  when I have more time to think about all that stuff.   But don't bother me now.  Catch me later, isn't that what you have relatives for?       Ya,  just dip me later, if I need dipped - after I die.   That will work - won't it?

 Dinner at the Kitchen Table

Boy - the weather is chilly around here with rain and snow in the central valley of California. My Son is here for one more day so this is my last chance to have dinner with him for a while.

I have been thinking all morning what to have and at first I was going to have Chicken and Dumplings but I have decided on a big pot of Vegetable beef soup. That means besides the beef sirlion, I will add everything but the kitchen sink. All the carrots, celery, corn, potatoes, cabbage, tomatoes, and pasta & salsa for spice. Yum Yum - can't wait.

My Mamo used to cook it the same way and always served it with hot biscuits and I think I will too. Nothing is better that sitting down with family, saying a blessing to the Lord for thanks and just making up for lost time.

Oh by the way - Great Grampa who is 90 will be having dinner with us also so it will be an exciting conversation with 4 generations at the table.

What's you favorite meal? Or you favorite family memory - I have so many but just showing love around the kitchen table is one of my best. We have pictures of every holiday table since childhood.

How about you- any memories?
