Looking for Truth

 Sweet Memories of Childhood

Today I was thinking of my Grandmother whom I called “Mamo.”  She was born in Vance and raised in Campwood, Texas and I never saw her go to church but she read the Bible everyday. She lived to be 84 and passed away in 1992. She used to hum this song as she was making morning hot biscuits and basted “dippy” eggs and bacon.  Yum Yum

Just A Closer Walk With Thee
(Words: Unknown author)

I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

(chorus)

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee,  dear Lord, none but Thee.

When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o’er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.
(chorus)

Such long ago memories of when I was a child of four are still embedded in my thoughts.  My sweet little Mamo was cooking and preparing a morning feast for me.  I can hear her calling me now “come on honey, here’s your coffee come sit with me awhile.”  It was mostly milk, but I was living large.

You know, I will bet that heaven has dippy eggs and bacon & coffee, and my "Mamo." What do you think?

 Faith and the Mustard Seed

What does a “Mustard Seed” have in common with faith?

Jesus said:  “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field.  Though it is the smallest of all your seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches.”  (Matt. 13: 31-32)

Then later …

He replied:    “Because you have so little faith.  I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move.   Nothing will be impossible for you”  (Matt. 17: 20-21)

Keyword here is Faith.  We are to have faith in what- the mustard seed- Ourselves?

What do you have faith in?  I put my faith in Jesus Christ?  That doesn’t mean I am literally moving mountains but there are some obstacles within myself that are just as big as a mountains and they are moving!

How about you, have you moved any mountains lately?

 Keep on Standing Firm

STAND FIRM

And the Lord said:   “You shall have no other gods before me.” (exodus 20: 3)

“ Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”      (Ephesians 6: 13-17)

Paul warns:  "I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel - which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel other than the one we have preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: if anyone is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned."     (Galatians 1:6-9)

The bible is so clear – No other Gods – Put on the armor of God – and STAND FIRM.  So that when a deceiving  “angel” appears and brings you a different gospel, other than God’s Word “let him be eternally condemned”     Are you listening people?  Are you listening?

I will “stand firm”  and obey God’s Word.   False Prophets be eternally damned is what it is saying!   Are you listening?

Open the Eyes of My Heart , Lord

This song keeps playing on my heart today and with it goes my prayers.

Open the Eyes of My Heart”

(words and music) by Paul Baloche

Open the Eyes of My Heart Lord,

Open the eyes of my heart,

I want to see you,

I want to see you, (repeat)

(verse)

High and lifted up,

Shining in the light of Your glory,

Pour out Your Pow’r and love as we sing,

holy, holy, holy,

holy, holy, holy,

holy, holy, holy,

I want to see you.

I want to see you. (end)

My prayer today is:   “ Father, teach me your ways so that I may see you in everything I do.   Draw me near Father.  Give me strength to overcome my enemies and my weaknesses.   As I continue to walk with you and learn your ways, guide me Father,  so that not only will I  ‘stand up’ for You and Your Word, but that I will always ‘stand firm’.”

Could anyone want more than that – I ask you?

 Ever feel like "fresh meat?"

I found today that this passage just jumped out to me and spoke of these last times when our enemies will be doing all they can to provoke havoc on the Christian believing body.

1 Peter 5:8-11     I read the following and wanted to share.

“Be Self-controlled and alert.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. (9) Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are under going the same kind of suffering.

(10) And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. (11) To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.”

I think all Christians can relate how some days it just seems to be “In our weakness He is Strong.”  Jesus Christ is our strength and the one who protects us from our enemies.  Our enemies continue to growl – but…

My God is bigger than my enemies. How about yours?
