I read on TFD blog a bit about Self-restraint (temperance); courage (fortitude); practical wisdom (prudence) and social responsibility (justice) and I got to thinking that these are some on the toughest things to master in life. God given challenges are never easy and I would be the first to say so.
Have you ever thought how differently we apply these words to the scenarios of circumstances in our lives? The people we know, like or dislike are all different paths on the journey of life.
Just like answering the phone and hearing the voice of someone you like or hearing the voice of someone you don’t like – what a difference it makes. How self-restraint (temperance) plays a part of every relationship goes without saying but even when we have practical wisdom (prudence) we still mess us from time to time and let the emotions of life take over. The idea of social responsibility (justice) seems so much easier to handle when our views and value meet the one we need to give justice to at the time.
It seems that with all these traits that exist in our human lives , temperance, fortitude, wisdom and justice it wouldn't be so easy to let the emotions of arrogance, rudeness, pride, vindictiveness, just to name a few, distroy communication. But that is just what these "killer" emotions do to relationships constantly.
That is why for me and I dare say for most Christians, we know all to well our weaknesses and praise God for keeping the Holy Spirit close at hand to help us walk the pathways of life a little better. How lost we would be without God's guiding hand and left up to our own vices.
Thank God for His "Grace and Mercy" as He continues to keep His “potters wheel” spinning. Growth in Him is the key to being all we can be. The journey to God and a relationship with Him is ever learning and ever spinning towards “eternal life” and the joy of being with the “Father” and praising Him forever is a journey worth taking.
