Satan's First Lie in the Bible

Genesis 3:1-5

 1) Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

 2) And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

 3) But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

 4) And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

 5) For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

There you have it Genesis 3:5   Satan’s first lie in the Bible “and ye shall be as gods” - Satan, the snake himself convinced Eve and Adam that they too could become gods, if they ate of the tree that God had commanded them not to eat.  Now Eve and Adam were punished by God and cast out of the Garden of Eden for disobeying and Satan was cursed forever – but that didn’t stop him from telling more lies – In fact there are some religions that still believe his “first lie” – and are “working on becoming gods” - Satan’s lies won’t come true – but being cast out of heaven for believing them will…

Now that is a scary thought!

 The Many Names of Satan

The Names of Satan (an excerpt from Guide to God)

After his exile from heaven, Lucifer was called Satan.  But he is called by different names and descriptions in the Bible, and each gives a clue to his character:

   Satan (“adversary”)  (2 Corinthians 11:14)

Beelzebub (“chief of the demons”)  (Matthew 10:25)

   Devil (“slanderer”)  (1 Peter 5:8)

   The evil one  (Matthew 13:19)

 Liar  (John 8:44)

The father of lies  (John 8:44)

   Your enemy  (1 Peter 5:8)

   The tempter  (1 Thessalonians 3:5)

A “murderer from the beginning”  (John 8:44)

An opposer of righteousness  (2 Thessalonians 2:4)

Prince of this world  (John 14:30)

   Lawless one  (2 Thessalonians 2:8)

Satan’s Character.  Satan is powerful, clever, and completely wicked.  We must never forget that.  He is the mighty enemy of God.  Just look at his names; He slanders and lies, he cheats and tempts, he murders, he opposes all the good that God intends for His world and His people.  (end)

Personally, I find it odd and scary that some people don’t believe in God and his goodness, yet most of those same people do believe in the Devil and evil.  Do “You” think this proves that Satan’s lies are obviously working – or have you become one of the non-believers?

 Unconditional Love

Unconditional Love is about loving someone without reservation, without finding fault, without any prejudices or preconceived notions.  In other words – I love you whether you love me or not – just because I do.

This is the love I have for my three little Grand Daughters and the joy I had giving this love this past week was immeasurable.  But…

I now understand how God can so love us that without questions, no matter what we do, it is not because of what we do – but what we are…

His Children – get it?

 Go Love Somebody

This holiday weekend I am off to Boise, ID to go visit my Daughter, Son-in-law and my 3 little grand daughters.  The oldest just turned 3 and then the identical twins are a year and a half old.  That is 3 little girls all 3 and under.   Hooray!

Grandma and Grandpa are coming to visit and just squeeze them to pieces with hugs and kisses.  I have purchased things like finger paints, chalk and 3 new little suede and leopard skin winter coats that are almost a chic as they are!  We are going to play, play and play some more and then play again.

Here is wishing you all as great of a Labor Day holiday as we intend to have and a safe trip, if you are traveling.  I will be off this computer after today for the better part of a week, but I will answer your replies upon returning.  God’s blessings to you all and GO LOVE SOMEBODY.
