Hi Everyone –
I wanted to tell you about a wonderful Christmas surprise I got and I don’t even think the giver of the gift realizes how much it meant to me. Remember my friend David (INDY) that I wrote about on September 17th? He had to undergo surgery, again, for cancer and I asked you all for prayers for him and his wife Laura. Well, you all came through and God answered with great success for David.
After his surgery he has still had to go through Chemo’ treatments and some of the side effects he got was loosing the feeling in his fingers and feet. This wouldn’t be a drastic problem for some, unless you played the guitar and Dave plays beautifully. So this past year Dave has had to put his music ability on the shelf, so to speak, and not play at church for all of us to enjoy.
That is where my Christmas gift comes in (to me a real Christmas miracle) – This Christmas Eve at church we were all surprised by David being back on stage and playing his acoustical guitar with the band. Not only did he play “Oh Come, Oh Come Emanuel” – but he played it and it sounded like a harp from heaven. There he was feeling each string and strumming that instrument like he was playing for God, as he was, but we all got to hear it too. What a wonderful Christmas present we all received. We watched this man, a humble man, who has gone through so much, but never gave up, never complained, never stopped trusting God, who played his music again. I am so proud to know him and call him friend. And he is so blessed to have such a strong and adoring woman as Laura as his wife in his life. She also has been his strength and she has shown all of us how to walk with grace in so much adversity.
I don’t know when I have been shown the glory of God more than to just have been a witness to their lives and how they have shown the power of humbly “Walking by Faith”. What an awesome gift from Christ and I so praise God for putting them in my life and I am so honored to call both David and Laura my friends.
