A new parent, nothing is as exciting as being a parent and examining your child for the first time. You take them in your arms and look into their face. Then the first words out of your mouth are “Hi there baby, you are so beautiful.” That is usually followed by the next three little words “I love you, I love everything about you.”
Can you remember feeling that way? Or if you haven’t become a parent yet, let me tell you it will happen almost word for word as I have stated above. Then you will unwrap the baby, if needed and begin to examine his or her body. Oh yes you must know if he or she has all the needed body parts. Ten fingers, ten toes, two ears, a belly button and you will check if that button is an “inny or a outy”. You don’t care but you will check anyway. You will rub and touch them all over and even rub what little hair is on their little head. Then you will sniff and smell how wonderful your baby even smells. Oh the smell of a newborn baby – nothing smells better – it just smells like love, if love had a smell.
After you have played and cooed and snuggled and squeezed your baby almost to the point of him being uncomfortable, you will make sure he is nourished and put him to sleep so that he can grow big and strong. But, just when you have him or her sleeping you think in a panic “are they breathing, are they OK?” Should I just touch him one more time and make sure he’s all right? Just a little touch not to wake him but to just ensure he is safe. Then you will wait and wait and wait all the time wondering, “How long is he or she going to sleep?” “Come on baby, open your eyes so I can look at your beautiful face and talk to you.” “Come on sweetie, wake up so I can just squeeze you and love you and snuggle you one more time today.” “Hey I want to talk to you”.
Remember? Well, that is just what our Father in Heaven thinks about us each day. He waits for us to wake up, just like we did, with all that excitement. He might be just standing there beside our bed waiting for us to open our eyes. Just so He can talk to us and we can talk to him. He enjoys being with us. He is just as excited about us, His children, as we are and were for our children to rise each day. Just think about that – while we are sleeping God is waiting for us to awake and look up at Him. He is waiting for us to say, “Good morning Father.“ He is just waiting to look into our eyes to show us His love.
Doesn't that thought just boggle your mind, it does me? The fact that He loves us so much and is such a personal God that He is waiting each day for us to awake? Wow, Wow, Wow
